random.fits

The random catalogs have the naming convention:

$LSS_REDUX/[sample]/[letter]/random/random-#.[sample][letter].fits

Each random catalog contains a set of points distributed with equal surface density across the sky, except that there are only points within the window and outside the mask. Note that there is no completeness variation or accounting for the fact that we have deeper flux limits in some directions than others! You have to do that yourself.

The columns are:

• RA: Right ascension, J2000, degrees
• DEC: Declination, J2000, degrees
• SECTOR: Sector containing this random point
• MREGION: Magnitude limit region containing this point (see the description of the ASCII large-scale structure files)
• FGOT: fraction gotten in this direction
• MMAX: flux limit in this direction

ASCII versions of these files are also provided, in the form of files named:

$LSS_REDUX/[sample]/[letter]/random/random-#.[sample][letter].dat

with four columns corresponding to the four columns listed above.
