NYU Value-Added Galaxy Catalog
object_sdss_tiling.fits
This file contains the information regarding how each object was
treated by the SDSS tiling software. Entries are basically copied
from the file $VAGC_REDUX/sdss/sdss_tiling_catalog.fits.
Entries with SDSS_TILING_TAG==-1 were never
input to tiling by the SDSS.
The columns of this file are
- SDSS_TILING_TAG: unique tag for each entry
- RUN: SDSS drift scan target found in
- RERUN: target reprocessing rerun number
- CAMCOL: target camcol
- FIELD: target field
- ID: target id
- RA: Right ascension, J2000, degrees
- DEC: Declination, J2000, degrees
- PRIORITY: a priority to help decide collisions (lower is higher priority)
- TILEID: id of the tile the target was assigned to (-1
if none)
- MASK: flag describing happened to the target
during the tiling process (-1 if target was never tiled --- think
about it, it happens for the "Best" sample). The bits are:
- 0 (ASSIGNED): assigned to a tile
- 1 (DECOLLIDED): a decollided target
- 2 (COVERED): covered by a tile
This mask can occasionally be wrongly set in the files and it is best
to ignore it.
- COLLISIONGROUP: This tracks which objects are in the same
group, when using a linking length of 55 arcsec.
- OVERLAP: Synonymous with sector.
- PRIMTARGET: Indicates the type of target this galaxy was
in the targeting version (see the
SDSS web site for detail).
- SECTARGET: Indicates the type of target this galaxy was
in the targeting version (see the
SDSS web site for detail).
- OBJC_ROWC: Pixel row in targeting image
- OBJC_COLC: Pixel column in targeting image
- PSFMAG[5]: PSF magnitude in targeting image
This file only contains matches to object_sdss_imaging
objects. In order to access the full catalog, look in the file:
$VAGC_REDUX/sdss/sdss_tiling_catalog.fits
The file object_sdss_tiling.fits has a column
SDSS_SPECTRO_POSITION which yields the zero-indexed position in
the full sdss_tiling_catalog.fits file.
