NYU Value-Added Galaxy Catalog
This file contains the RC3 catalog (v3.9b, 24 April 1994; Corwin, de Vaucouleurs, Buta, Paturel, and Fouque).
On March 7, 2006, we checked all of the named objects in the file against NED (Nasa Extragalactic Database) to get updated coordinates for them, and replaced the RC3 coordinates with the NED coordinates.
The columns of this file are named using the same conventions as decribed at the RC3 web site.
This file only contains matches to object_sdss_imaging objects. In order to access the full catalog, look in the file:
$VAGC_REDUX/rc3/rc3_catalog.fitsThe file object_rc3.fits has a column RC3_POSITION which yields the zero-indexed position in the full rc3_catalog.fits file.
